Problem Statement
Young adults often lack effective tools and guidance to save adequately for retirement, leading to financial insecurity in later years. Existing financial planning solutions are often complex or geared towards older demographics, failing to engage and educate younger users effectively. There is a critical need for a user-friendly digital platform that empowers young individuals to understand and proactively manage their retirement savings, fostering long-term financial stability and confidence.
02
Goal
To think through a digital platform that could be used to help young people increase their saving for retirement.
03
Question
How might we design a digital platform that effectively increases young workers' engagement in early retirement planning, considering their low financial literacy and the strain on traditional pension systems due to low interest rates?

Design Process
For the Future Fund design challenge, I aimed to create a digital platform that empowers young people to save for retirement. The process began with comprehensive UX research to understand the target audience's attitudes and behaviors towards saving. This was followed by a competitive analysis to identify market gaps and opportunities. I then developed detailed user personas to ensure the design met user needs. Using mind mapping, I organized thoughts and explored the user journey, leading to the creation of low-fidelity wireframes to map out the platform's layout and structure. Finally, I developed high-fidelity prototypes to bring the concept to life, incorporating all the insights and feedback gathered throughout the process.

Result
Through the process of creating the Future Fund app, I've gained invaluable insights into the challenges young people face in saving for retirement and the significant impact that technology can have on improving financial literacy and planning. By prioritizing empathy and user-centric design principles, I've learned to identify and address the diverse needs of young individuals seeking to manage their retirement savings effectively. This experience has reinforced the importance of tailoring features to the user, such as jargon free educational resources and motivational tools, to create a meaningful and engaging financial platform. Additionally, I learned a great deal about delivering a product for a specific age group, understanding the unique needs and design expectations of young users, and ensuring the app resonates with their preferences and behaviors.
